Taskly
This project was part of the CareerFoundry course User Experience Design. The project length was six months and the goal was to design a Project management application primarily for mobile, but included tablet and web versions too. This page gives a summary of this course work.
User Research
Comparing the competitors of Taskly and defining the unique proposition and creating the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was part of the first task.
I conducted surveys and interviews with the early adopters.
The results helped to create a Task Model, a Customer experience map and user personas.
Information architecture
For the next part of the project I created a sitemap for the Taskly website and mobile version. I used the Card Sorting exercise to get feedback on the structure for the site. Creating and organising the content copy for Taskly was also part of this step.
UX Design
Transforming the paper prototypes into wireframes was the next step. I created full scale model flows to evaluate and demonstrate visual functionality to the user with both non-interactive and interactive models.
Prototypes
Over several iterations I started sketching the first prototypes on paper.
Usability Testing
The non-interactive (paper) prototypes were tested in person as a first iteration. The provided feedback helped me to make first improvements.
The interactive prototypes were used for all follow on test iterations. The platform used for this was InVision.
Visual Design
Part of this course was also to learn about Visual Design and create all the assets for the Taskly application.
UI Kit
I learned about colour schemes, fonts and created a mood board and Style tile for my project.
Test and Analytics
In this stage I learned about several types of tests, such as A&B and Click tests. I conducted a range of these and learned more about the usability of my application and how to improve it.
I also used Google Analytics and AARRRR to learn about website data and statistics, which can further help with improving UX.
Conclusion
Over the time of six months, I worked on a Project management application, used several User Research methods to find out which other applications lack in and what users needs are. Created wireframes using UXPin and performed Usability testings with non-interactive (paper) and interactive prototypes (InVision).
Created my own assets for the application using Adobe InDesign and performed more User tests using A/B, Click, Memory and Yes/No tests.
I produced a working prototype, which ran through several iterations of tests, which is different to existing Project Management applications and fulfils the needs of the users.
